Luxating Patellas in a Dog.
Toy Breeds and occasionally larger breed dogs can be affected by a kneecap that will slide in and out of place. If the knee is never painful( whining, holding leg up, shaking), no treatment is required. Some limping is of a mechanical nature when the kneecap goes in and out of place and the dog feels the pressure, but no pain. Many dogs hop a bit their whole life off and on, without pain, and live with the defect.
