Documentaire "Au nom de Jeanne" (version intégrale)

A documentary film by Alexandre Moix, created using archival footage of the Joan of Arc Festival in Orléans, in partnership with Ciclic. One hundred years ago, in 1920, Joan of Arc was canonized, and the Joan of Arc Festival was recognized as a national holiday. Throughout the 20th century, the left, the right, and the extremes all tried to appropriate Joan and her celebrations. Every year in Orléans, the most prominent figures of the century march alongside the Maid of Orléans: De Gaulle, Malraux, Albert Lebrun, Jean Zay, Giscard d'Estaing, Mitterrand, Chirac… A platform and political springboard for some? A showcase and means of communication for others? Alexandre Moix's film focuses less on the folklore than on the symbolic and political dimensions of the festival. Through exceptional and previously unseen archival footage (from 1930 to the present day, sourced from the Ciclic collection), the film tells the story of Orléans confronting its own history and the history of France. It also features interviews with prominent figures, immersing us in the heart of a city and a festival that transcend all political factions—facing the future—and making Joan of Arc an irrepressible and universal figure.
