It has been painted over while missing paint in some areas, had a smashed window piece, a broken tow hook, and I initially thought it was missing its signature sliding roof (spoiler - it wasn't). It replicate's one of the final vehicles from Studebaker, a Wagonaire based on the third generation Lark. These were designed to optimise Studebaker's limited lineup without spending out on retooling by adding a unique sliding roof allowing for a pick-up style cargo bed. They were built between 1963 and the firms demise in 1966. The Matchbox model arrived in place of the Evening News Van in 1965. It was always painted blue but it came in many, many shades of the colour. For the initial and final runs, the sliding panel was the same colour as the body, while those in between were painted the same pale blue as the 7B Ford Anglia. That was the case for my model, originally presenting a mid to turquoise blue with that pale panel. I have to say that I was very pleased with the outcome on the paint match for this resto.
