In this speech, Barbara Ilardo, a population geneticist, explores the evolutionary history of ADHD, drawing on her own personal experience. Using a scientific approach, the speaker reflects on the advantages and disadvantages of evolution, demonstrating how the collaboration of multiple neurotropic agents has allowed society to develop as it is today and how accessible spaces can be a crucial tool for enabling everyone to best contribute to our evolution. Born in Argentina, Barbara Ilardo spent a nomadic childhood between Los Angeles, Malaga, and Riccione. She writes and discusses adult neurodivergence on Instagram and YouTube as @ADHDologia. She has ADHD and autism, a fact she discovered midway through her PhD in Population Genetics at Liverpool John Moores University. She subsequently earned a Master's degree in "DSA, ADHD, and Autism" from the University of Urbino. Meanwhile, she hosts podcasts and events aimed at raising awareness about neurodiversity, including the first gathering of ADHD adults in Milan, Neurodiversity Celebration Week at Roche Warsaw, and the Women in Tech Summit in Poland.
