25 Forgotten Home Defense Guns (One Killed a President)
In 1904, a gun company ran a magazine ad showing a small child in bed playing with a loaded revolver — and promised it was perfectly safe. The ad worked, and that revolver became the most common handgun in America. Tonight we count down 25 forgotten guns American families actually trusted to protect the household — the cheap revolvers, single-shot shotguns and lever-action rifles that lived in nightstand drawers, aprons, and on the rack above the door. Most weren't killed by scandal or failure in the field. They were killed by patent lawyers, production costs, and one law passed in 1968. From $3 hardware-store revolvers to the most produced revolver in human history, this is the antique firearms history nobody teaches anymore — and one is likely sitting in your family's attic right now.
