Ballyrashane Home Guards

Rendition of traditional song Ballyrashane Home Guards, which is closely linked to Ballyrashane Protestant Flute Band. On the twenty-fourth of June, brave boys, as safe in bed we lay Our honors called us early before the break of day Saying the Germans had landed in Ireland and wiped out all Coleraine And now they're heading eastwards on the road to Ballyrashane We fired on them for two long hours, then we did fall behind Because all the other regiments had moved further up the lines But we soon got clumped together and our orders where to remain And we made them dance coming up the Manse on the road to Ballyrashane We fought them back for three long miles across the Irish soil Till we met another regiment, then our blood did the quicker boil But we soon got them surrounded in the small town of Coleraine And we made them wish they had never made a push on the road to Ballyrashane So now at last my song I'll end, my pen I will lay down Here's a health to every Ulsterman that supports the British crown You may talk of your English regiments or the skins that fought so hard But there's few we meet who could compete with the Ballyrashane Home Guard
