PROOF: Wild Tigers Live at This Thailand Campsite
Wild Tigers patrol this Thailand campsite and I will prove it! Can you imagine camping on the highest peak in Kanchanaburi, only to realize you aren't alone? In this episode of Karl’s Thailand, we tackle the breathtaking hike to the summit of Khao San Nok Wua, the highest mountain in Kanchanaburi Province, but this isn’t just a travel vlog—it’s a journey into the heart of wild tiger territory. While many travelers visit Kanchanaburi for its history and waterfalls, few realize that these mountains are one of the last strongholds for the endangered Indochinese tiger. THE PROOF I consullted Tim Redford, the Surviving Together Programme Director at Freeland in Thailand. Tim and his team are at the forefront of tiger conservation in Khao Laem National Park. In this video, Tim shares exclusive trail camera footage and insights into the tigers that live on and around the mountain itself. In this video: • The grueling but beautiful hike up Khao San Nok Wua. • Camping at the summit with stunning views of the Western Forest Complex and footag of the stunning sunset and sunrise from the mountain’s twin peaks • An inside look at wild tiger conservation with Tim Redford of Freeland. • Exclusive footage of wild tigers in their natural Thailand habitat. 📍 LOCATION & HIKING INFO Khao San Nok Wua is located in Khao Laem National Park, Kanchanaburi. It is a strictly regulated trail, and for good reason—it is a vital wildlife corridor. If you're planning on Thailand travel that goes off the beaten path, this is a must-see, but respect for the wildlife is paramount. Please keep in mind that this hike is seasonal so check first. Tours have to be arranged via Khao Laem National Park on 034510431 and it's advisable to ask a Thai person to call for you. You will have to send a copy of your passport/ID to them, probably via LINE app. The tours depart from the Pom Pee Viewpoint HQ and you will have to register there early on the morning of the hike (AFTER you have already booked with the NP). Expect to pay 1000 to 2000 Baht for the hike, it really depends on how many people go and ig you hire a porter and rent camping equipment). Private tour companies will charge more but provide transportation and food. Here is the location of Pom Pi (Pom Pee) viewpoint, this is where you must check in on the morning of the hike. because of the remote location and early start most people arrive here the night before and camp in the beautiful campground. https://maps.app.goo.gl/5vK1YTRkE2oDW... I hiked with Ploy and Beer from Ploy Land. I can't recommend her highly enough. You can contact her via her facebook page / yaowarlux.prachasuk Also she is on Youtube, check it out / @ployland ________________________________________ SUPPORT TIGER CONSERVATION: Learn more about the incredible work Tim Redford and Freeland is doing to protect Thailand’s tigers: https://www.freeland.org/ Follow Freeland in Thailand via their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...
