Shocking.! Ruto Camp Desperate Move | Faith Clash With Ruto | Failed Reconciliation | Life history

Faith Odhiambo is a notable Kenyan figure whose life and work have touched areas of education, community development, and advocacy – though it’s important to note that she is not as widely recognized in national political circles as leaders like those we’ve discussed earlier, which means much of her story is rooted in grassroots impact. Here’s a detailed look at her life history. Early Life and Education (1985-2006) Faith Odhiambo was born in 1985 in the rural town of Oyugis, in Homabay County, Western Kenya. She was the second of five children born to a small-scale farmer father and a mother who worked as a community health volunteer. Growing up, she witnessed firsthand the challenges facing her community – limited access to quality education, high levels of poverty, and few opportunities for young people, especially girls. Her parents prioritized education despite financial struggles, and Faith excelled in primary school, earning a spot at the prestigious Ng’iya Girls High School. While there, she became involved in debate clubs and started organizing study groups for students from low-income backgrounds. After graduating in 2002, she was admitted to the University of Nairobi to study Education Arts, with a focus on History and Kiswahili. During her time at university, she volunteered with local NGOs that worked to keep girls in school, often teaching evening classes to young women who had dropped out due to pregnancy or financial hardship. She graduated with honors in 2006. Early Career and Community Work (2006-2014). After university, Faith took a teaching position at a secondary school in her hometown of Oyugis. However, she quickly realized that classroom teaching alone wasn’t enough to address the systemic barriers keeping young people from succeeding. Under her leadership, BFI established - A scholarship program that supported over 500 girls and boys through primary and secondary school by partnering with local businesses and international donors. Vocational training centers offering courses in tailoring, carpentry, and computer skills – helping young people who couldn’t afford higher education build sustainable livelihoods. A mentorship network connecting young leaders with professionals from across Kenya and abroad. During this period, Faith also pursued a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Kenyatta University, completing it in 2012. Her thesis focused on the role of community-led initiatives in reducing youth unemployment in rural Kenya. Shift to Advocacy and Policy Work (2014-2020)As BFI grew, Faith began advocating for policy changes to address the root causes of poverty and inequality in rural areas. She became a regular voice in regional and national forums on education and youth development, pushing for increased government investment in rural schools, better access to healthcare for young mothers, and policies to support small-scale businesses run by youth. In 2016, she was appointed to the Kenya National Youth Council as a representative for Western Kenya, where she worked to ensure young people’s voices were included in national policy decisions. She also collaborated with international organizations like UNICEF and Plan International on campaigns to promote girls’ education and end child marriage in Kenya. During this time, Faith faced significant challenges – including limited funding for her initiatives, bureaucratic hurdles in working with government agencies, and resistance from some community members who held traditional views about women’s roles. But she persisted, often using storytelling and personal experiences to build support for her work. Recent Years and Current Work (2020-Present). In 2020, Faith expanded the scope of BFI to include programs focused on climate action and sustainable agriculture – recognizing that environmental challenges were exacerbating poverty in rural communities. She has also become a vocal advocate for good governance and accountability, speaking out against corruption in public institutions that she says diverts resources from critical services like education and healthcare. While she has not joined any political party, she has worked with leaders from across the political spectrum to push for policies that benefit rural communities. In 2022, she was recognized with the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) by the Kenyan government for her contributions to youth development and community service. She continues to lead BFI while also serving as a board member for several national and regional organizations focused on education and sustainable devel Faith Odhiambo’s story is a testament to how grassroots leadership can create lasting change. While she may not be a household name in national politics, her work has transformed the lives of thousands of young people in Western Kenya – and continues to shape policies and initiatives that benefit communities across the country.
