Pub Demolished, Empty 10 Years Now Flats Nobody Noticed 💔 The Pall Mall Digbeth Lost Pubs Birmingham

📸💔 DISAPPEARED WITHOUT ANYONE NOTICING - HARDLY ANY PHOTOS EXIST 🍺 Buy me a Beer at https://www.buymeacoffee.com/joyfuladvep Contact me: [email protected] The Pall Mall pub, Cheapside/Lombard Street corner, Digbeth - demolished before 2008, land empty for over a decade, now Digbeth One apartments. 📍 LOCATION: 193 Cheapside, corner of Lombard Street, Digbeth, Birmingham THE MYSTERY: Unlike most lost pubs we cover, The Pall Mall has almost NO photographic record. It disappeared so quietly that even its memory has nearly faded. WHAT WE KNOW: Pre-2008: The Pall Mall - Ansells pub on Cheapside/Lombard Street corner 1998: Digbeth pub photographer: "As I toured Digbeth I came across a few pubs I never knew existed; the Pall Mall was one of them. I don't think I've been in it!" Before 2008: Demolished (exact date unknown) 2008-2019: Land sat empty and abandoned for over a DECADE 2011: Same photographer returned: "Here we are in 2011 and I'll never have the chance to drink here! Even though the pub was gone, the street sign, street light, junction box and road signs were all untouched. The pub vanished but infrastructure remained." 2019: Digbeth One apartment development construction begins 2026: Digbeth One completed/nearing completion THE ANSELLS CONNECTION: The Pall Mall was an Ansells pub. Ansells Brewery (founded 1838) was one of Birmingham's brewing giants with hundreds of managed houses. By the 1970s, Ansells faced serious industrial relations problems. The brewery was eventually closed by Allied Breweries due to ongoing strikes. When Ansells collapsed, hundreds of Birmingham pubs lost their identity. The Pall Mall was caught in that decline - an Ansells house in Digbeth, an area already struggling economically in the 1990s-2000s. WHY THIS MATTERS: Not every lost pub has a dramatic story. Some just... disappear. No fires. No campaigns. No newspaper coverage. Just quietly demolished and forgotten. The Pall Mall represents the SILENT erasure of Birmingham's pub heritage - the ones that vanish without anyone noticing until it's too late. WE NEED YOUR HELP: 📸 PHOTOS DESPERATELY NEEDED!
