The Secret Things and the Eyes That Could Not Focus | Thought Tapestries

Standing on the rim of the Grand Canyon, my eyes refused to focus. The distance was too vast for ordinary sight. I had to decide the flatness was a lie my perception was telling me — and the moment I did, the depth snapped into view. The canyon didn’t change. I did. That moment sent me back to Deuteronomy 29:29: “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever…” Alongside it stands Proverbs 25:2: “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” What if some “secret things” are not information being withheld, but capacity that has not yet been given? The same canyon stands in plain sight. The same Scriptures have always been there. Parenthood, grief, and the deeper rooms of life open eyes that once could not see.
