Les Champs-Élysées : Quand le luxe cohabite avec la délinquance

30 million people visit Paris each year. A tourist influx that peaks during the summer months when certain districts of the capital are in turmoil. Between June and September, every day, more than 300,000 tourists walk the sidewalks of the legendary Avenue des Champs-Élysées. So everyone tries to take advantage of it: department stores of course, but also pop-up stores that rent out spaces at exorbitant prices. To facilitate the travel of all these visitors, hundreds of tuk-tuks now offer their services. French, Bulgarian or Romanian: for several months, the drivers of these bicycle taxis have been at war to each keep their territory. On the most beautiful avenue in the world or near the Eiffel Tower, pickpockets are not left out. They use a thousand stratagems to attract tourists and help themselves directly to their pockets or bags. A real headache for the police who must be extra vigilant. Special rigade, anti-crime police officers: these men patrol the golden triangle between the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde. During the summer, the banks of the Seine attract Parisians, but also party-goers from all over the world. Thousands of young people flock there on weekends. Brawler, often drunk, some of them do not hesitate to jump into the water. So, the river brigade police officers are on the alert to prevent drownings and save lives. Director: Marc de la Villardière
