The new CalorieMate commercial, "Believe in One Step," starring actor Takumi Kitamura, leader of the dance rock band "DISH//," was released on December 1st. In the "CalorieMate Exam Support Commercial," which airs annually during exam season, Kitamura, dressed as a student, attempts his first climb on a snowy mountain at 3,000 meters. The commercial's theme song is Tatsuro Yamashita's "Hikari (Light Named Hope)." The commercial alternates between scenes of Kitamura, playing a high school student, studying for exams and climbing a mountain. In his studies, he becomes frustrated when his mock exam results don't go as expected, and in his climb, he slips on a snowy trail, constantly struggling. The commercial alternates scenes from the day the results are announced with the climbers reaching the summit, and contains a message of encouragement for hard-working test-takers. The climbing scenes were filmed over four days on Mount Hoken in Nagano Prefecture. Filming on the mountain was reportedly a harsh environment with continuous rain and snow. Kitamura, who has some personal mountain climbing experience, reflected on the filming, saying, "It was my first time climbing a 3,000-meter-class mountain, and the scenery was exceptionally beautiful, unlike any other mountain I've climbed before." The exam scenes were filmed over three days. The commercial sends a message to test-takers: "I'm sure you have exams and interviews ahead of you, but I'm sure you'll be rewarded with beautiful views at the end of your journey, so I hope you'll seize the dreams you want to achieve. I'm rooting for you." The commercial will air from the 2nd.
