After surviving interrogation, Squall finally gets back into a fresh set of clothes and retrieves his confiscated gunblade while Quistis and Selphie prepare to flee the containment block. Just as they make their move, a soldier approaches holding Rinoa hostage—only to pull off his helmet and reveal it’s Irvine in disguise! With the team reunited, they push to the top bridge, only to have their path blocked by an Elite Galbadian Soldier flanked by two massive GIM52A heavy-artillery hovering cyborg mechs. Set to a high-octane, metal arrangement of "Only a plank between one and perdition", Squall's team engages in a brutal, explosive fight! But the victory is short-lived. Realizing they are losing control, the military initiates lockdown protocol, causing the entire monolithic D-District Prison to physically sink into the desert sands! Separated in the mechanical chaos as the walkways are destroyed, Squall is forced to scale the exterior shifting industrial cranes over a deadly drop!
