Bus Ride through the City of Thies, Senegal

6:00 p.m.: I am on a Senegal Dem Dikk bus from Saint-Louis to Dakar. We are coming into the outskirts of Thies, population 320,000, three hours into our trip. Continuing south on Route N2 past a junction into the northern part of Thies. We’ve turned onto the VCN, the western bypass route around Thies, then turn into the city to drop off a passenger. 6:16 p.m.: The man sitting in the first row right window seat disembarked so I have grabbed this prime seat as we make our way through Thies. Hopefully somebody isn’t going to get on with a ticket for this seat! We are proceeding southwest through the outskirts of Thies on Route Thies-Sindia to join up with the A2 tollway.
