This attractive cake makes great addition for pokemon fans. Ingredients: 1. 2 butter cake mix boxes 2. Vanilla frosting or buttercream 3. Orange color fondant (or use white fondant and tinted with orange gel food coloring) 4. Small amount of yellow, white, blue and black fondant Method: 1. Preheat oven to 180 C (350 F). Grease and line with baking paper 25 cm (9.8 inch) round baking pan (if you like you can use 20 cm (8 inch) round baking pan and use 1 butter cake mix box). Mix 2 butter cakes together according to instructions on the cake box. Pour into prepared baking pan and bake for about 35-40 minutes or until skewer inserted into center comes out clean. Once baked, transfer onto wire rack to cool. If you like: bake cake day before, cool, then wrap into cling wrap and place into freezer which makes easier to shape cake next day. 2. To shape cake: cut the cake into three pieces, with the middle rectangle being about 2/4 of whole circle with 1/4 on either side. 3. Cut or shape the middle rectangle into two pieces - a smaller circle (about 1/3 the length) and a larder oval (about 2/3 the length). Remove extra cake. 4. Take one of the 1/4s and slice it in half, then slice those halves in half almost diagonally. 5. Take the other 1/4 and cut a chunk out of the straight side so that it follows the curve of the outside, leaving one end pointed and the other squared off. 6. Arrange all pieces on a plate. The oval and circle are the body and head. The outsides of the 1/4 become the front legs and the insides (the trapezoid-looking ones) become the back legs. The large curve becomes the tail. Trim slightly all parts to fit into cake curves. 7. Shape the edges with a knife. Carve down the front of cake to give charmander a little snout. Bring the tail to appoint too, and carve some off the top of the front part of the oval so his head is taller than his neck. 8. Connect all parts of cake with frosting. Frost all over cake. You can place more of frosting in parts need be more raised if you like. Roll out orange fondant on working surface dusted with powdered icing sugar to prevent sticking to a large circle larger then you cake. Transfer loosely on top of cake. Shape cake with hands dusted with powdered icing sugar. Trim away extra fondant. Attach small strips of yellow fondant on the stomach parts of charmander with little water. Attach claws and two little triangle teeth made from white fondant. Make eyes from white, blue and black fondant and attach to head with little water. Makes small insertion in the tail end with skewer and insert a candle.
