A $0 Event Turned Into My #1 Sales Day... Even I'm Surprised.

Shout out to the GCAP crew for hosting this event! https://www.instagram.com/gcapucr/?hl=en With a three week notice, I was invited out to a small event hosted by a UC Riverside committee known as Green Campus Action Plan, also known as GCAP at UCR. After receiving an Instagram DM, I parsed through the invitation and almost clicked away before reading UC Riverside. I often tend to get lots of random invitations by event hosts from various flea markets or local events in the area, but this one stood out because I had been looking for an opportunity to vend at UC Riverside, beside their annual HighlanderCon (hosted by their eSports team). Since my demographic primarily comprised of college students who had been seeking my stickers and art after seeing me give away stickers twice in 2024 at the university, I took the risk of selling at this event despite various skepticisms. Not having to submit any formal documentations, liability & insurance forms, and standard application paperwork was definitely out of the norm for me after having done a few college events such as UCI and UCSD vendor fairs. On top of that, this event didn't seem to be officially hosted by UCR, and the $0 table fee for a 10x10 space on campus completely threw me off. Regardless, my risks weren't too extreme, so I took the opportunity (in spite of being out of a good amount of stock after UCI Vendor Fair and Anime Impulse LA the week prior). I am extremely blessed to admit my doubts were overridden. The organizers, Ana and Rahma, were extremely nice and accommodating, along with their team for GCAP! This was a wonderful event, and I cannot say it would be the same for every vendor that has the opportunity to sell here at UCR, but personally, because my demographic is primarily college students, it ultimately ended up being my top single sales day by large margins, even with just 5 hours of selling. *** Here's some basic stats of the event featured, UCR GCAP Farmer's Market One day weekend event Located on UC Riverside Campus 10x10 space, canopy and tables available to rent Hours: Wed. 9am-2pm (7am-9am set up) I'm an Asian American creative who graduated from college in SoCal and decided to live their childhood dream of turning art into their career!
