Will Democrats Force A New Vote On Ohio Redistricting?

Last year Ohioans voted on an amendment that would have changed the way lawmakers draw legislative maps. After a bitter campaign, voters rejected the changes. Now Democrats threaten to put the issue back on the ballot. That’s if Republicans pass a partisan congressional map that gives them more seats The redistricting commission met this week. And did nothing except raising their right hands and take oaths. Commission member Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine says he still hopes for a bi-partisan compromise, but the deadline for the commission to come up with one is less than a week away. We also look at the Ohio House passes two bills this week to that aim to provide $2 billion in property tax over the next three years. A new Bowling Green State poll should give Ohio Republicans some concern and Ohio Democrats some hope. The poll shows President’s Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 41%, down 16 points from April. In the 2026 race for Ohio governor, Vivek Ramaswamy leads Democrat Amy Acton by three points. Undecided Democrat Tim Ryan trails Ramaswamy by 2 points. The U.S. Senate race is also well within the margin of error with form Sen. Sherrod Brown leading Sen. Jon Husted by one point.
