According to publicly reported information, the minor girl, who belongs to the Chang community, was reportedly working as a domestic helper while continuing her studies. The case came into public attention after serious allegations emerged against a prominent NGO leader, creating concern and anger among citizens. As news of the incident spread, several organizations, including student unions, women’s groups, tribal organizations, and civil society bodies, strongly condemned the alleged crime. Many demanded a fair, transparent, and speedy investigation under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, commonly known as the POCSO Act.
