Join us for a walking tour of Castiglione d'Orcia, Bagno Vignoni, Italy. This is an amazing historical villiage in Tuscany. Castiglione d'Orcia is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Siena in the Italian region of Tuscany, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) southeast of Florence and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) southeast of Siena, in the Val d'Orcia, not far from the Via Cassia. Siiting on top of a big Tuscany hill in the province of Siena, this Italian villiage is full of charm, great food, and amazing wine, and wonderful local shopping. This small tuscan town is immersed in the nature of Val d’Orcia, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It's composed of hills, ravines and the iconic cypress trees that crown the isolated hills or line the roads in orderly rows. The village was first mentioned in historical documents in 714 and was initially controlled by Aldobrandeschi, but became a free municipality in 1252. In the 14th century, however, Siena took control of it, leading it to become a point of contention between Siena and the Salimbeni family. The territory of Castiglione d'Orcia there are about fifty of the eighty-six species of orchids attested in Italy, some of them very rare and because of their importance in recent years, object of photographic exhibitions and conferences From the Val d'Orcia is primarily the cinta senese breed of pig, fine.
