Meet the Nelson Cathedral Ellacombe Bells

Come and meet the Nelson Cathedral Bells! These bells are rung through the Ellacombe Chiming Apparatus, developed by Rev Henry Thomas Ellacombe (1790-1885) in 1821. They have been rung continuously by the ringers at Nelson Cathedral. In 2021 the tower helped to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Ellacombe Chiming Apparatus. Peal of 8, cast by John Taylor & Co, Loughborough in 1965, donated by tourism entrepreneur and cricket player Sir Jack Newman CBE (1902-1996). 9-1-16 (477kg) tenor.
