CHAV BRASS play Better Off Alone by Alice Deejay at the Turkey Shed, Delph 25/05/2024

Chav Brass is a "scratch" band formed annually since 2007 solely for the famous Saddleworth Whit Friday marching contests. They are an international collective of top class musicians from the Brass and Orchestral world out for a day of irreverent fun but also for serious performance. They do not regularly play together and assemble a couple of hours before the contests with very little rehearsal time, unlike most other Brass Bands who meet and perform more regularly. They play Top Bangin' Choons on the contest marchdown as an antidote to the stuffy military style marches usually played, in the hope of raising awareness of brass playing amongst the young. In 2024 an overall 5th place was attained with 2nd, 3rd and 4th placings in the individual village contests that make up Saddleworth's famous day out.
