An Oath That Lasts Forever | Sora Vs Rex | Versus Trailer (Kingdom Hearts Vs Xenoblade Chronicles)

From the very beginning, perhaps even before that, these boys seemed destined to forge a bond with a legendary figure in history—someone in a coma—wielders of divine weapons, with blonde hair and a childish demeanor despite being hundreds of years old (Ventus & Mythra). They lived on an island surrounded by clouds and sea, a place meaningful to them because of their love for exploration and discovery, though this left them unprepared for the larger world beyond (Destiny Islands and Fonsett Village on the Lefthrian Archipelago). They always wore the quirkiest clothes—baggy pants in red, blue, and yellow—making their look instantly recognizable in the early parts of their stories. Their ordinary life took a turn during a stormy night when routine turned into an unexpected journey into a world they had never known before—a betrayal by a silver-haired compatriot and the appearance of a gentle, gifted girl from afar. These events bestowed upon them special weapons, elevating them to legendary status, as told in ancient tales passed down through a mysterious power (Rex became the Driver of the Aegis, linked to Pyra, daughter of the Architect; Sora wielded the Kingdom Keyblade, becoming a vessel for Kairi’s lost heart, ironically a Princess of Heart). They traveled with many companions across different locations to fight against jaded, elderly villains armed with grandiloquent rhetoric, aiming to destroy everything and prevent the world’s end (Sora confronting Xehanort’s Organization 13 to stop the Darkness from consuming the world, Rex seeking Elysium to save everyone from dying Titans they live on from Praetor Amalthus). Their adventures involved teaming up with friends from royal backgrounds, showcasing their talents through team attacks where each could shine as they led the main party (Sora visiting Disney Worlds with King Mickey’s Guard, Magician Donald, and Goofy, allying with Disney Royalty capable of using Trinity Limits and Team Commands; Rex making friends with soon-to-be Queen Nia, The Prince of Tantal Zeke, The Jewel of the Empire Morag, and Tora as they traversed the Titans of Alrest, unleashing Chain Attacks). Both characters are often accompanied by old men living in hoodies (Jiminy Cricket and Azurda, respectively). Their weapons, transferred from loved ones like Riku and Pyra, can be swapped at will by summoning different weapons, mainly favoring swordplay and companions attuned to spirit, like Dream Eaters and Blades, to fight alongside them. Their most formidable enemies include a malicious, half-human organization driven by death and a strong heart—those aiming to wipe out the world (Organization 13’s Nobodies wearing the Black Cloak inspired by The Master of Masters, and the Flesh Eaters from Torna, using the fallen Titan’s name as representation for their cause of Alrest’s injustice). In their final battles, they race against time to reach their ultimate goals—exploring desolate and historically significant locations (The World That Never Was and Scala Ad Caelum for Sora, The World Tree and Prison Island/Origin for Rex). Their power arsenals are further boosted by a desperate move: awakening the individual who had been asleep after sacrificing themselves to save the world in prequel games from their dark counterparts who insisted what their destiny was (Ventus & Vanitas in Birth By Sleep, Mythra & Malos in Torna: The Golden Country). They ultimately overcome their self-destructive tendencies, granting new powers thanks to Sora and Rex (Sora reawakening the Power of Waking, Rex obtaining Mythra’s Foresight) to alter disastrous events. Both have dual-wielded using another’s power which further enhanced their own (Rex in Future Redeemed with his Firelight Swords / Sora in KH2 in Valor, Master and Final Form, granted by merging with Roxas and in KH3 ReMind with Double Form, granted by Oathkeeper and Oblivion, using Kairi and Riku’s Keychains) allowing them to possess a form of their greatest power cloaked in white, to stand alongside those they love. After this, they’d battle a philosophically empty entity derived from a previous villain (Xemnas, Xehanort’s Nobody & Alpha, Malos’s Brother) who manipulated someone related to Sora and Rex, (Roxas & Na’El). This advent ended with a 6 person squad raid which led to victory prominently with a well known, well-trusted teammate yet a sacrifice was made afterward which wouldn’t last forever (Sora and his best friend, Riku, after Xemnas’s defeat, would stay in the Realm Of Darkness but would come back soon after, and Rex with his co-leader Shulk, after Alpha’s defeat, Rex and Shulk trapped themselves inside Origin, but would be freed when the time comes). They would also sacrifice their lives in order to save a girl close to them of red hair, who’s life was being cut shot too soon (Sora used the Power of Waking to rewrite history to bring Kairi back and and Rex transferred his life-force to Glimmer)
