She trained at Boston University, worked as a pediatric PT at Boston Children's Hospital, and then spent three and a half years backpacking across 60+ countries with her husband. In 1994, she founded BirthWorks International — a nonprofit training childbirth educators, doulas, and breastfeeding and Kangaroula specialists worldwide. She's the author of Birthing in the Spirit and has taught piano for over 30 years.
