Flood of 1955 5-11-2023

In August of 1955 the eastern US was hit by successive hurricanes. An incredible 25 inches of rain fell in parts of Connecticut, where streams and rivers were unprepared for the deluge. In this presentation we will explore the worst flood in Connecticut history: the contributing factors, impacts, and aftermath, including the ongoing role of the US Army Corps of Engineers in flood risk management.
