At the Sea Cadets in Hellevoetsluis, you step aboard to have fun. Together with a group of boys and girls of various ages, you will spend part of your free time on the water. Staying aboard the corps ship makes a big impression, especially while sailing. But it can be exciting in the smaller boats too. Mastering a strong wind or a heavy current isn't something you do easily. And for a rowing trip, you really need to have some skill. A Sea Cadet Corps is more than just a water sports club. Of course, you learn how to row and sail. And as a Sea Cadet, you learn that well. We have our own diplomas for this, which we call certificates. Furthermore, at the Sea Cadets, you learn everything you have to do on board a large ship. You don't do this in a classroom, but on board and a few times a year during a sailing trip. When the corps sails with the Zeefakkel, you are not a passenger, but a crew member. The cadets play their part in everything that needs to be done on board. Taking the helm is fun, setting the course is necessary, and sailing is impossible without operating the engine. With us, you are engaged in an enjoyable way with boys and girls your own age. Together, you discover what is possible and necessary on the water. The corps leadership and the instructors guide you in this. You shape the program together with all the boys and girls.
