Visiting Chinatown in Houston, Texas
Chinatown Business District is consist of a stretch on Bellaire Blvd from Fondren to Beltway 8, zip code 77036. Since 1980's, Chinese and Taiwanese business owners migrated their businesses from East Downtown to this southwest neighborhood. Dynasty Plaza released its spaces to offices and stores within its 2-story shopping mall in 1980's. Further to the west, Sterling Plaza started to lease larger retail spaces in 2005. Around 2010, the giant Dun Huang Plaza was all filled up. During the summer of 2019. Bellaire Food Street mall opened several restaurants in different phases. Chinatown is still growing as more restaurants and shops opening. Many Chinese holidays are celebrated in the Chinatown area with official events.
