Enyobeni Tavern Tragedy | NPA will not appeal sentence

There has been much criticism levelled against the country's justice system following the sentencing of the owners of the Enyobeni Tavern at the East London Magistrate Court on Friday. The court sentenced the owners to fines of 5-thousand-rand each, or a hundred days in prison, for selling or supplying liquor to minors. The couple were found guilty of selling alcohol to minors in a tragic incident that resulted in the death of 21 young people. In June 2022, 12 girls and 9 boys between the ages of 13 to 17 lost their lives after a night of celebrating the end of mid-year exams. The National Prosecuting Authority says it will not be appealing the sentence. Eastern Cape's NPA Regional Spokesperson Luxolo Tyali joins us virtually to discuss this.
