Topcon SL-Elite/D Series Slit Lamp: Rheostat Dimmer Volume Control Replacement

Mark the colors of the wires on the base or on the rheostat as a reminder when re-soldering later. Remove soldered wires while still mounted on base. Use flux/solder and put a dab of solder on each terminal before mounting the new rheostat. Tighten the new rheostat in the same position as the original. Re-solder wires on new rheostat. Push insulator/heat shrink over soldered terminals as on original. Clean knob of all old glue residue before attaching seal diaphragm scale. Try not to touch the sticky side of the label with your fingers as it may weaken the glue. Adjust knob travel to indicate accurate dimmer intensity before tightening knob set screw. Elite, D Series, and the D-701 use the same rheostat. The D-301 uses a VR Cable assembly as the plug-and-play replacement on the power supply. Part numbers shown in video.
