Zum dritten Mal: Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester ist Weltmeister

For about six weeks now, the Nuremberg Accordion Orchestra (NAO) has been able to call itself a world champion. After 2004 and 2010, this is the third world championship title for the orchestra under the direction of conductor Stefan Hippe. The NAO won first prize in Innsbruck. In the highest category, the orchestra prevailed against 22 other groups, some of which traveled from as far away as London. The disciplined amateur musicians rehearsed in advance, in addition to their weekly meetings, also at a short training camp. From classical to modern: NAO covers a wide range The repertoire of the approximately 30-member orchestra ranges from classical to modern music. They also include modern pop pieces, such as an ABBA medley. The accordion always provides the appropriate tonal variety. Next year, the NAO will celebrate its 80th anniversary. To coincide with their World Championship title, the orchestra performed Stefan Hippe's winning composition, "The Moons of Saturn." The NAO (North American Accordion Orchestra) has now given its last concert before the summer break. Rehearsals will resume in September to prepare for the year-end concert. On November 22, the accordion orchestra will perform its competition program, including Tchaikovsky's overture "Romeo and Juliet."
