Ghost Notes - The Secret to Pop Violin (Stop Sounding Classical)

If you've been classically trained, you've been taught to play exactly what's on the page. And if you want to play other styles of music like pop/rock covers on the violin - that's the problem. Ghost notes are the notes that aren't written down and they're what makes violin sound like it actually grooves. In this video: two types of ghost notes, how each one works, and what your bow does differently for each. Melodic ghost notes: lightening bow pressure on the subdivisions between written notes Percussive ghost notes: placing the bow vertically to fill the gaps with "noise" and rhythm This is the technique behind the rhythm guitar riffs you hear in songs like Can't Stop by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
