If you notice the engine misfiring or having trouble starting, especially in the early morning or on particularly cold days, a glow plug is most likely malfunctioning and causing this problem. Diagnostics may reveal error P0380, but it isn't always stored. It's important to ALWAYS unscrew the glow plugs when the engine is warm! Denso and other glow plug manufacturers advise against using grease or lubricants on the glow plug threads, as this will overtighten them. Generally, all of them should be replaced, but since the job is simple, you can replace or check them as needed.
