In this video, I take a close look at the legendary guitar part from Michael Jackson's Thriller, originally performed by the incomparable David Williams. I'm joined by the phenomenal Tariqh Akoni, who re-creates the iconic part with precision and passion. Together, we explore the song’s intricate arrangement by Rod Temperton and break down the brilliance of David’s contributions to this global classic. Legend has it that Michael once sent a helicopter to fetch David, recognizing what he brought to the stage was simply irreplaceable But there’s so much more to David Williams than just "Thriller". He was a true master of rhythm guitar, leaving his mark on albums by legends like Madonna, Whitney Houston, and Lionel Richie. I had the privilege of collaborating extensively with David over the years, bringing his extraordinary talent to my original music for film, television, and advertising. One of our standout projects was featuring him on The Human Contract, a television series starring Rick Springfield. Join me as we celebrate the artistry of David Williams, dive into his unforgettable grooves, and share the stories behind one of the most influential guitarists and guitar parts in music history!
