This is the story of a 13-year-old boy who has been battling the waves at sea since he was 7 years old, supporting his family with his own two hands. 🌊💙 "Nong Por," or Prames Phancharoen, is a strong-hearted boy from Surat Thani Province. He grew up fishing, supporting his grandparents, and sending himself to school since he was only 7 years old. 👏🏻✨ Nong Por has lived with his grandparents for as long as he can remember. He's never seen his father, and his mother, despite their hardships, visits weekly and sends him money. Nong Por's family earns a living from fishing. Some months, it's just enough to get by, and other months, it's almost impossible. His grandparents are both ill. His grandfather suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes, forcing him to start and sell fishing equipment. His grandmother has hyperthyroidism, so he has to do all the housework he can. He relies almost entirely on Nong Por and his aunt for his main source of income. 🎣 Nong Por's boat is a used longtail boat, nearly 30 years old, in poor condition. It starts sometimes, sometimes not. But Nong Por still goes out with his aunt, driving the boat, casting his own nets, and catching shrimp and fish to bring in money for the family. He saves all his earnings for school pocket money, and gives the rest to his grandmother. 🛶 Even though he's tired and doesn't have anything like his friends, he tells himself, "I have to fight for myself and my grandparents," because they've raised him since childhood. Today, Nong Por brings a familiar skill from real life—casting a net. He shows off his expertise and asks for a "longtail boat engine" to use in fishing to provide a stable income.
