I begin with an internal vision. I feel that art that moves the spirit as well as the intellect can interact with individuals engaging them in a personal dialogue. Forms may take on societal problems or they may appear as purely abstract, intellectual thoughts. Sometimes realistic forms may be combined with abstract forms. Lauren Singer: “Bits and Pieces of Soft and Hard” describes Lauren’s far-ranging work from handwoven textiles to tribal-based, woven and constructed figures to her signature use of sharp wire grids as canvas for provocative metal and found object assemblage. Her work comments on life as she sees it: the environment, motherhood, global and social issues, feminism, and politics.
