We encounter some dead fishes in some of the tide pools and it sparked some curiosity, the cause of death probably due to hypoxia (low oxygen levels) as a result of the trapped sargassum seaweed which in its decaying phase also consumes most of the oxygen and also releases toxic by-products like hydrogen sulfide and ammonia which can kill fish. The Atlantic blue swimming crabs also took advantage of the abundance of the dead fish. Another severe impact is the alteration of the PH level of the waterway when the sargassum decays. It was an amazing day to be on the outdoors enjoying the scenic view in addition to the flora and fauna.
