In this unique episode, Poveromo docks his MARC VI at Bud 'n Mary's, an institution in the Florida Keys. He and Capt. Chase Fulton, set forth to deep-drop and "hand crank" for barrelfish in 1,000 feet, prior to moving farther offshore to drop and "hand-crank" for swordfish. Electric reels are a staple for deep-dropping and even day swords, but Poveromo showcases the sporting aspect of pursuing these fish the good old fashion way. Poveromo goes one for two on barrelfish, boating a whopping 27 pounder. The surprise here is an Alfonsino, another oddity of the deep. Fulton then takes Poveromo for swords, where they go one for two, using a Penn International 50 spooled with 50-lb braid.
