Die Leiden des jungen Werther to go & #MeinSenf (Goethe in 10,5 Minuten - Neufassung!)

“Human nature (…) has its limits,” Werther explains, and after experiencing enough of these limits, he calls it quits. SOMMERS WELTLITERATUR offers a concise and entertaining summary of Goethe’s famous Sturm und Drang novel, THE SORROWS OF YOUNG WERTHER, followed by context and commentary in the form of #MyTwoCuts. This is version 3.0 of the WERTHER reimagining (time flies!). Werther is new to a small town where he soon falls in love with Lotte, who is unfortunately engaged to Albert. Conveniently, Albert is away for the time being, giving Werther plenty of time to get properly smitten. Of course, Albert eventually returns, and Lotte marries him. Werther tries to distract himself by working at a princely court for an ambassador, but he soon feels discriminated against as a commoner and quits. Everything draws him back to Lotte, even though she is now married. When they accidentally kiss shortly before Christmas and she sends him away, Werther shoots himself. "And so I stagger, terrified! Heaven and earth and their weaving forces around me! I see nothing but an eternally devouring, eternally ruminating monster."
