Zacchaeus Wasn’t Cute. He Was Compromised.

Everyone remembers Zacchaeus climbing the tree. But almost nobody sits with the scandal. Zacchaeus was not a cute Bible character. He was rich, connected, compromised, and hated. He lived in Jericho, a city filled with money, trade, customs, reputation, and pressure. And when Jesus stopped beneath that tree, He did more than notice a short man trying to see over a crowd. He publicly called the name everyone despised.
