In an exclusive interview, Roberto Santana, director of the Penitentiary Reform, confirms that La Victoria prison will be demolished after decades of disgrace and corruption to make way for a modern Educational City with a capacity for 40,000 people. We analyze the transfer of thousands of inmates to Las Parras, the new mental health system in prisons, and the crisis of pretrial detainees, where the Dominican Republic ranks second in the region.
