Helene: One Year of Healing | Stories of Recovery, Resilience & Connection

One year after Hurricane Helene, SparkPoint gathered voices from across Transylvania County to remember what our community lived through, honor what helped us endure, and listen closely to what still needs care. This short tribute is part of SparkPoint’s ongoing community story collection work. In the year after Helene, more than 120 residents shared their experiences across ten collection sites throughout the county. Those stories helped surface unmet needs, connect 42 residents to coordinated recovery support, and shape a deeper understanding of what long-term recovery really requires. This video is not just about looking back. It is about honoring the neighbors, businesses, community centers, churches, local leaders, volunteers, municipal and county partners, and quiet helpers who carried one another through an impossible season. It is about what we learn when we listen. And it is about how a community rooted in connection can keep healing, rebuilding, and preparing for what comes next.
