Cambridge A3i Amplifier Repair (With Audio Tutorial)

Fault Amplifier working but modifications made to improve the reliability and operational performance of the Amplifier. Silicon Rectification Diodes replaced with Schottky Diodes. D101,102,103,104 D210 & D211 1N4001 Diodes replaced with Metal film 10 Ohm 1-Watt resistors. The above modifications improve the THD of the Amplifier by reducing electrical noise. All four Green LEDs on the Amplifier circuit board replaced. The LEDS break down over time and go intermittently open circuit. Dry solder joints on the Amplifier PCB and Input / Tone PCB re-soldered as there were many dry soldered connections. Speaker protection relay replaced, to avoid intermittent loss of sound and distortion at low volume, due to oxidization on the switching contracts. Spec 24 V DC DP/CO. Replacement power cable fitted. Bias for each channel was set to 12 millivolts when measured across R123 & R23. User controls and switches cleaned with De-Oxit D5 to ensure noise free operation. Amplifier fully tested correct operation.
