The TCL QM8L is Awesome… & Disappointing (Review) I tested TCL’s new 85-inch QM8L SQD Mini LED TV to see if it can live up to the hype around TCL’s latest flagship-level Mini LED lineup, especially after the X11L set such a high bar. In this review, I take a closer look at HDR brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10, local dimming, blooming, contrast, black levels, gaming performance, 144Hz support, motion blur, input lag, color accuracy, BT.2020 coverage, SDR and HDR calibration, glossy screen clarity, viewing angles, upscaling, processing, and overall value compared to OLED TVs, the TCL X11L, older QM8 models, and other high-end Mini LED TVs. The QM8L has some seriously impressive strengths on paper and in real content, but there are also a few areas where it surprised me, disappointed me, and made me question who this TV is really best for.
