This Small Mexican Town Feels Safer Than Living in the U.S. | Ajijic, Mexico

Living in Ajijic, Mexico has completely shifted how safety feels in my body. As a Black woman traveling solo, my experience here has challenged many of the fear narratives I was taught growing up in the U.S. Before leaving America, I spent months researching safety statistics and was surprised by what I learned about violence, abuse, and crime in the U.S. compared to other parts of the world. This video isn’t about denying that unsafe places exist in Mexico. I encourage everyone to do their own research and, when possible, explore places for yourself before writing destinations off as a no-go. I hope this video offers a new perspective.
