The Final Runs of the U Boats in 1996 - 4k

In the last days of 1995 I took delivery of my new DV camcorder, replacing the Hi8 I had been using for about three years. As the U-Boats were running only limited revenue services up the mountains that were within days of finishing I quickly took the opportunity to get a couple of shots of them with the new camera before they ceased running. This video shows the shots I got at this time. I've also included a shot of 85s on an up goalie that I took while waiting for the U-Boat. At the time they were regular runners that we used to take for granted, but now they're gone. About 12 months later in November 1996 the U-Boats ran a Special Farewell Run. I've also included my shots of this run A quick comment on the new camera; while still standard definition the quality of the image was significantly better than Hi8 and the DV format eliminated the risk of drop outs that was always an issue with the Hi8 camera; editing was also much easier and there was no generational loss. The camera was also a real workhorse that I used for about 10 years, only replacing it when the high definition cameras arrived.
