Dr. Erica discusses Feline Gastrointestinal Lymphoma
Dr. Erica Dickie, Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian shares her journey with palliative care for her own cat Porter. She shares the changes she saw, the steps she's taken, and the feelings felt in learning that Porter has cancer. This includes some of the symptoms that were seen, the investigations taken (blood work, urinalysis, x-rays and eventually biopsies), his exploratory surgery (both diagnostic and therapeutic), and therapies done so far. In sharing this journey with you, we hope to shed a little light in some of the steps that can be taken in palliative care for pets as well as the caregiving burdens/struggles. End of life care for pets is an especially challenging time that deserves the most delicate attention and care for both the pet and the pet's family. Thank you for listening.
