After moving to the US, he was involved in THEFT and served time in prison from 2018 to 2006. After his release, he worked as a restaurant assistant and a nail technician, but only reported to the police every six months. The last time he was detained, he was imprisoned, transferred between two prisons for about eight months before being deported back to Vietnam. Having returned to Vietnam with no relatives left, he was fortunate enough to be sponsored by a childhood friend who also lent him a room. Currently, Mr. Vu lives on the kindness and support of his neighbors.
