Nicknamed Little Vienna, it delights with its Art Nouveau architecture, atmospheric Old Town, and panoramic views of the Beskid Mountains. In this film, we visit Bielsko-Biała's most interesting attractions – from elegant tenement houses and the Sułkowski Castle to the Fiat 126p museum, Art Nouveau gems, and mountain trails. We will learn about the history of the city that for centuries connected Silesia and Lesser Poland, and discover why Bielsko-Biała deserves to be called one of the most beautiful cities in Poland. 🏙 Old Town and Market Square We begin our tour in the Old Town, where elegant tenement houses and cobblestone streets create the atmosphere of old Bielsko. The Neptune Fountain stands in the market square – a symbol of the city's mercantile history. It was trade and weaving that made Bielsko one of the most important industrial centers in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. ⛪ St. Nicholas' Cathedral and Sułkowski Castle St. Nicholas' Cathedral, with its distinctive Neo-Romanesque tower and stained glass windows, towers over the Old Town. Sułkowski Castle stands right next door. Today, it houses a museum that tells the history of the city from the Middle Ages to the era of industrial prosperity. 🎭 Little Vienna – Art Nouveau gems Bielsko-Biała is a city that, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, rivaled the elegance of large metropolises. The Polish Theatre, designed by the Viennese studio Fellner & Helmer, is reminiscent of buildings from Prague or Budapest. Also worth seeing are the Polish Post Office, the town hall, and the President Hotel. 🏭 The Old Factory and the Weaver's House Former textile factories created the legend of the "Silesian Manchester." In the Old Factory, you can see original machines that, just a few decades ago, produced fabrics exported worldwide. The Weaver's House, in turn, takes you to the 18th-century workshop where the first cloths in Bielsko were hand-woven. These are must-sees on the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship. 🎬 Bielsko – the capital of Polish animation This is where iconic cartoons were created: Bolek and Lolek, Reksio, and The Abduction of Baltazar the Sponge. The Animated Film Studio now houses the modern "OKO" Fairy Tale and Animation Center, where you can see how animated films are made and create your own short cartoon. Walking around the city, you'll encounter their characters – sculptures of Reksio, Bolek and Lolek, and Pampalini adorn Bielsko's streets. 🏛 Polish Army Square and Villa Sixta The heart of old Biała is Polish Army Square – an elegant square surrounded by tenement houses, featuring the Art Nouveau Tenement House Under the Frogs, with its musical frogs. Nearby is Villa Sixta – the neo-Renaissance residence of industrialist Teodor Sixta, now renovated and serving as an art gallery. 🚂 Fiat 126p Station and Museum The impressive Main Station recalls the days when Bielsko-Biała was one of the region's most important industrial cities. It was here that the legendary Fiat 126p – a symbol of Polish motoring – was born. The private museum houses dozens of "tiny" models, from early models to unique prototypes. 🌲 Wooden Church and Gypsy Forest In the Mikuszowice Krakowskie district stands the 17th-century wooden Church of St. Barbara – a gem on the Wooden Architecture Trail. A few minutes away lies the Cygański Las (Gypsy Forest), a former resort with villas and guesthouses from the turn of the 20th century. It's a great place for a walk and a starting point for mountain trails. 🏔 Szyndzielnia, Klimczok, and Hrobacza Łąka From Dębowiec, you can set off for Szyndzielnia, home to the oldest gondola lift in Poland. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views all the way to the Tatra Mountains, and from there it's just a short walk to Klimczok. Nearby Hrobacza Łąka, with its 35-meter-high cross and viewpoint over the Beskid Mały Mountains, is also worth exploring.
