Visiting Japan as a Japanese American From Hawaii
Being Japanese American from Hawaii, it's an interesting experience everytime I visit Japan. It's a unique culture shock because I look Japanese, but I'm from the US. On top of that, my identity is very much "from Hawaii", which is an entirely different identity than just being from the US. So I wanted to share what I noticed about visiting Japan as a Japanese American from Hawaii. Intro to Japan as a Japanese American from Hawaii - 0:00 When you look Japanese, but not really - 0:45 Trying not to judge Japan by Hawaii standards - 2:35 An appreciation for where I came from - 5:20 Closing thoughts - 8:16 Filmed using the DJI Osmo Action. #hellofromhawaii #japaneseamerican #fromhawaii 📷 IG - / hello_from_hawaii
