At the annual “Friends of Ireland” luncheon at the Capitol, President Trump praised the contribution of Irish immigrants to the U.S. and vowed that the bonds between two countries would endure. “We love Ireland, and we love the people of Ireland,” Mr. Trump said in brief remarks at the luncheon, a St. Patrick’s Day tradition in Washington since the 1950s.
