Digimon World (デジモンワールド, Dejimon Wārudo) is a video game in the Digimon franchise, originally based on the V-Pets. It launched the Digimon World video game series and was the first Digimon game released for the PlayStation console. Later, it was ported to Windows only in South Korea. Having been released before the TV series (Digimon Adventure), it is strictly based on the V-Pets. The game involves raising a Digimon from its baby stage until it evolves into its most powerful form. The Digimon will eventually die of old age, reverting to a Digitama and being reborn. To raise a Digimon, the player must train it, pamper or scold it as needed, feed it, take it to the bathroom, or let it rest after a long workout. Another feature of the game is battles. The player must pit their Digimon against wild Digimon and defeat them so they can return to the city.
